Hematology and Medicine Workshop | WSAVT

May 19, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Four hours of WSAVT and VBOG approved continuing education at Pierce College presented by Sandy Willis DVM, DACVIM from Phoenix Labs.

This workshop begins with a basic overview to hematology including sample collection, slide preparation, staining techniques, systematic smear evaluation, and basic cell identification. We then cover abnormal hematology to include bands and toxic change in neutrophils, atypical cells including lymphocytes, subtle changes in RBC morphology including spherocytes and acanthocytes, and assessment of platelet numbers. Together we will review CBC slides and corresponding case histories from roughly fifteen unique cases demonstrating principles discussed in lecture. The emphasis is on canine and feline hematology although some information is provided on equine and bovine hematology.

COVID-19 UpdateUpdated 9th April 2020

To Our Valued Clients

Beginning Monday, April 13, Alaska Airlines will reduce the number of flights between Spokane and Seattle.  With this change, samples picked up from your locations each evening will not arrive at the lab until the following morning.

Turnaround times for all affected samples will be extended accordingly. Please let us know if you need any samples rushed upon arrival at the lab and we will do our best to accommodate these requests.  We appreciate your understanding at this time
