Letter of Quality Assurance

Dear Client,

We are sometimes asked about our quality assurance program and what steps we take to ensure our results are accurate.

Phoenix Lab has an extensive multifaceted, quality assurance program. This includes multi-departmental internal controls as well as external blind submissions. The internal program involves the use of multi-level known controls, which are run several times daily in each department and with each group submission. These internal control results are submitted monthly to the control manufacturers and returned to Phoenix with peer study comparisons. In addition, a running daily average of individual test results is collated and analyzed for evidence of analytical drift.

Other external control programs include the Veterinary Laboratory Association Proficiency Testing Program (a quarterly multi-department program), the Society for Comparative Endocrinology External Quality Assurance Program and the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (USDA) Equine Infectious Anemia Proficiency Test. Successful completion of the annual NVSL proficiency test is required to purchase reagents and perform EIA testing.

In addition, we routinely recheck laboratory tests that are abnormally high or low and monitor reproducibility by repeating designated samples at different times and comparing results. We take pride in listening to our clients and will thoroughly investigate all concerns. We also have dedicated staff to monitor the quality control sample results, procedures, and staffing; and who actively participate on a national organizational level to determine and implement quality laboratory standards for all veterinary labs. Quality assurance and reporting quality results in a timely manner is not the result of a program, it is the result of the correct attitude, work habits, and outlook. It is the Phoenix way that sets us apart from the others, and our intent is to keep it that way.

Sincerely,
All the Employees at Phoenix Lab
