Dr. Holicky grew up in south-central Minnesota. From very early childhood her love of animals was paramount. In high school she discovered a love of biology, and veterinary medicine just seemed like the natural next step. After receiving her DVM from the University of Minnesota in 2006, she practiced small animal general medicine for 5 years in the Twin Cities. While she loved the challenge of general practice, she discovered a strong interest in clinical pathology, leading to completion of a residency in clinical pathology at Kansas State University. When a position opened at Phoenix, she jumped at the chance to realize her goal of working in a diagnostic lab. She had fallen in love with western Washington on previous visits, and was happy to relocate to the area and leave the heat and humidity of Kansas behind!
Dr. Holicky has two furry children, a Shih-Tzu/Jack Russell cross named Benny, who absolutely rules the house hold, and Max, a Sheltie who revels in his own neurotic herding dog behavior (but in a good way!). Dr. Holicky loves her morning walks at the local park with “the boys” every morning. She loves exploring the area with her sister, Mt Rainier and the San Juan Islands are favorites. When not off hiking with her sister and dogs, she enjoys reading science fiction/fantasy, watching movies, and keeping in touch with friends and family back home in Minnesota.
Rachael especially enjoys clinical pathology and welcomes you to give her a call or email with any questions you might have.
